Employment, training and education

Employment, training and education

Secure employment is one of the most significant factors in reducing reoffending.

West Yorkshire Community Rehabilitation Company delivers a range of employment, training and education services for offenders through the Step Change initiative.

The aim is to improve the skills and employment opportunities for offenders. This can include work on basic skills including literacy and numeracy, supporting offenders to access vocational training and employment preparation and motivational work.

Step Change also runs a number of social enterprises which provide voluntary and paid employment opportunities for offenders.

Step Change is funded by the National Offender Management Service (NOMS) Co-Financing Organisation and the European Social Fund; and works in Humberside, West Yorkshire and North Yorkshire.
