Diversity and Equality

West Yorkshire is home to one of the most diverse communities in the UK and we are keen to understand the needs of each of the different communities.

We are proud of our prioritisation of diversity and equality which we see as a 'golden thread' throughout our business.

In external assessments we have been pleased to receive independent confirmation of our approach - for example for two years (2014 and 2015) we were one of the top 100 organisations in the Stonewall top Employee Index, which assesses inclusive workplaces for lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender staff. We are currently ranked 128 our of 415 submissions in 2016.

Our experience of working towards a place in this Index means that we have a benchmark and an approach for good practice in all aspects of diversity and equality.

Our Diversity Unit works hard to achieve a positive and responsive approach to equality and diversity. The team are available for advice, support and guidance.
